Seeing New Things
Nov. 2000

by Ralph Nault

Have you ever gone through some kind of experience and afterwards seen something that you never saw before but it was there all the time, you just didn't see it?

I'm sure you have. There must be many things to see that are very obvious but we are not seeing them. One of the reasons Jesus came into the world was to open the eyes of the blind.

Are we the blind? It is so easy to look around us and see that others are blind and say, "Why can't they see this or that". But are they saying the same thing about us? I expect so.

Jesus said "the blind lead the blind and they all fall into the ditch". Are we being led by the blind and not seeing it? Am I the blind person leading and don't know it?

When Jesus called and spoke to Paul He Said; "to open their eyes so they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God.

The dominion of Satan is one of darkness. As long as we are blind we are in his dominion. When we begin to see we are coming into the light, into God's kingdom. Many people that think they are in God's kingdom are not, they are still blind, and are in the dominion of Satan. May Jesus open their eyes so they may see!

It is truly a wonderful thing to see! I expect every one of you have had moments when you said: "Now I see!" and something has been different for you ever since.

God uses all kinds of things to help us see. I want to share a wonderful experience I had that made me see with the hope it will make you see to.

This summer I put a cellar under a twenty four by twenty four part of my house. I had to dig a trench in back of my house about forty feet long and eight feet deep to get under the house. Then I had to make an opening through the foundation eight feet wide to get under the house. Then get a tractor and dig under the house. At the same time I had to remove all the old supports and put in new ones. When it was dug out I put in drainage pipes and new footings and pour new cement walls under the old walls and a cement floor. It was a big project for me.

When I began this project I was so aware that God was helping me. Everything I needed was right at hand. There were no delays, no waiting for anything, when I needed a tractor it was there, and I needed lumber it was there. When I needed a hand it was there. I was so aware of God's presence every day as I worked down in that hole in the ground.

It took me a month to do this job. When it was done I saw something very clearly. God was working with me in every way. Meeting all my needs, helping me in a hundred different ways. I saw God as a servant and I said; "My God you have been serving me all summer long on this job" and I was amazed. Then a scripture came to my mind. Jesus said; "I did not come to recline at the table but to serve". The Lord had been serving me all summer in all kinds of ways.

Then I saw something else. Even as He had served me this summer He had been serving me all the days of my life and I had not seen it. All my life through all kinds of people and circumstances God had served me and I did not see it.

Just imagine for a moment a great mansion with many rooms and many people living in it. A great Lord lived there and he oversaw everything that went on there but nobody seemed see him or hears him when he spoke. One day as he was walking through the halls a person sees him and asks him; "Who are you? He says; "I am the lord of this mansion!" This person says; "What do you do here I have never seen you or heard from you before?

The lord answers; "I take care of everything. I make sure there are electric lights and hot water and heat in the winter. I make sure there is food on the table and clothing for the people."

The person looks at him in amazement; "How long have you been doing that?" The lord replies; "from the beginning".

What I now see is that the Lord God has watched over me all my life. Always provided for me and served me in many ways that I did not see because I was blind. Thank God now I can see I am not in the darkness. As Paul said; "I see as through a clouded Glass". As time goes on I will see more clearly. Thank God!
