Keep Learning
April 1999

by Ralph Nault

I have been asking a lot of people this question. "Are you teachable"? I know that all of us would like to think we are, but are we? That is what is important.

Are you set in your ways? Is it difficult for you to receive anything new or different?

(Hosea 4:6) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

It seems that the Bible keeps stressing how important it is to keep seeking, asking, knocking and that there are many things hidden from us and that is the only way they will be reveled. Jesus told us the same thing when He spoke of dark sayings and speaking in parables that seeing they would not see and hearing they would not hear. We must have an inquiring mind, a seeking spirit, a desire to know and understand more.

I remember when I was in my teens and twenty's I could learn certain things and those were things I was interested in and wanted to know more about and to do better. In other areas I could not learn a thing because I was not interested or cared to know more.

Do we know everything about anything? I don't think so! That means no matter how much we know about any single things there is more to be known.

It seems like we are more interested in telling people how much we know, then learning something more.

An interesting reading in (Matt. 6:22-23):

The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness.

This has to be speaking about how we see, perceive and understand things. It is speaking about the truth and the lie and which one we are believing. Believing a lie can bind us for many years. So also can the truth bind us for a long time if we can't be teachable and keep increasing. Many Christian people have received truth and now they are unable to allow Jesus and the Holy Spirit to enlarge on it. They are frozen in it.

It is not that you and I need to know everything there is to be known. I don't need to know all that a doctor or dentist or a lawyer knows. I do need to know all that the Lord wants me to know.

(Hosea 4:6) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

I do need to know this knowledge that I am lacking that this scripture is talking about.

I do need to be teachable. I do need to keep king and seeking for the new things God has for me.

I pray that the Lord Jesus will give us the knowledge that we are lacking and causing us loss. Lord make us teachable in every area that we and our families need not lack any good thing. Fill us with your life and truth. Help us to listen and to learn. Amen Amen!
