Testimony
The Lord honored their prayers. Not only did Les walk forward to receive his new life in Christ, but that evening, the rest of his family attended and became born again on the same day. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy, where his faith remained alive through the many rigors and temptations of military life.
Arlene, a Massachusetts girl, encountered Jesus in a very real way as a child—through her First Communion in the Catholic Church. During her confirmation at the age of twelve, she made a true heart commitment to serve Christ as His faithful witness. (In later life, at a tent revival, Arlene was moved to seal that early vow in the waters of baptism.)
She met Les at a military dance, while serving as hostess at a Boston USO. There he won her complete admiration by balancing a chair on the end of his nose. Impressed by such “steadiness” in a man, it was only a short while before she agreed to marry him.
Like many Christians, Les and Arlene each tried hard to live out their faith in their own strength. Gradually the Father allowed them to “come to the end of their rope,” as their path became strewn with broken dreams and hardships. By 1976, desperation had driven them both to recommit their hearts to the Savior and make Him truly Lord of their lives.
As they grew in the fullness of His Spirit, they began to sense His call to ministry. Together in prayer, they agreed to say ‘yes’ to whatever the Father had in store for them.
Their first assignment was to serve as co-directors of New England Tape Ministries, an international Christian cassette lending library and conference recording ministry. As they grew steadily in knowledge of God’s Word and revelation of the Holy Spirit, the time came to move on from the tape ministry into a call to exhort the Lord’s people and to teach them the deep things of God.
In 1982 they joined The New Life, Inc., an inter-denominational outreach based in Barton, Vermont. Les presently serves on the Board of Directors as Vice President, and Arlene as Recording Secretary. As they minister with The New Life, their dual vision is always to reach the lost with the gospel message, and to fire the hearts of God’s people with a more intimate love relationship with Him.
In 2000, they began full-time ministry with The New Life, Inc.
The Carrolls currently reside in Auburn, Massachusetts. The Father has delighted their hearts with a grown daughter and son, a son-in-law and daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren, all of whom serve God in gospel ministries of evangelism, Bible teaching, and music.
