It's taken me awhile but I'm finally making an entry. Guess I needed
time to think about the effect Tootsie had on my life. I remember
playing cards with her almost every single night this past summer and
she lost every one of them, but she did not care about wining or losing
she just loved talking with me while doing so. At the end of the summer
the last day up in Eden,Vermont we played the game I was the best at.
You know what? She won it! The last game! I'd lost! It was the best
game I ever played! It is just like here to win the last one! I won't
remember all the times I beat her as well as I will remember that one.
NOw I told the story but I haven't told what effect it had on me. This
may seem insignifigant but she taught me how to be excited for someone
else's achievments. I loved her so much and still do. A light has
disappeared on earth only to reappear infinite time's brighter in
heaven.

It was a good day yesterday- a good day to celebrate Arlene. I wore my
purple sweater because it was her favorite thing of mine and we had
conversations about how we loved color and brightness. I also wore it
to celebrate the fact that color is a special part of my life and I
believe it to be such a special feature of God's world. I parallel
color in us to signify the character joy and the special features
(Gifts) that God employs in us to express Himself. There is a lot of
color in Arlene and I truly can say that yesterday was one of those
occasions that added mortar to the foundation of Faith for me. The
reality of the "JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH" - there was so much JOY
and I am so TRULY BLESSED that Holy Spirit had me read the newsletter
and allowed me back in your lives for a another snapshot of your
journey.
Thank you for a beautiful service. I will continue to pray for Comfort
for you, Dawn and Bobby. What a lovely family you have. I can remember
Susanna in a little light green dress, with long brown ringlets of
hair, dancing around the Church.
Love

Dear precious man of God,
there are no words that can eliminate your pain at losing your precious
wife and partner in ministry. You two were such an important team in
the service of the Lord. The long list of messages are proof enough of
this fact. Your love was such a perfect example of the love of God that
Jesus commanded His disciples to exhibit so that the world would know
that God sent His son. Therefore, it is obvious that you have much more
to do for Him, and you must allow yourself to give yourself and God
time to prepare you for your next assignment. May you experience the
arms of your Lord wrapped around you as you and He grieve together, for
He knows your pain, and He feels it with you. I know you already know
all this stuff, but I pray that these words will encourage as well as
comfort you during this season. I will always remember the many times
that you and Arlene ministerd God's love to me , and I will ever be
grateful to you both.
In His great Love and mine,
Priscilla

Dear Les and Family,
Your loss of a wonderful and Godly wife and Mother is Heavens gain.
There is no doubt in our mind that your sweet Arlene is rejoicing on
the streets that are golden and smiling that beautiful smile down on us
all. We will cherish last July at Lake Eden with you all and especially
with a lady whom we regarded as a sister in the Lord. When you all get
together again, one person , God`s gift to us all, will be sorely
missed. May Jesus comfort all of you until we all meet with Arlene in
Paradise and rejoice. Love and Blessings, Anne and Dick

I first met Les and Arlene back in the late 1970's or verly 1980's.
(not sure of date just the event). It was at an Aglow retreat in
Vermont. Les and Arlene were in charge of recording the meetings,
making tape sets for sale. It was my first time at a "charismatic
event" (although I was born again since childhood), and felt very out
of place, like a square peg in a round hole. Since, at that time, I
earned my living doing the same thing and knew how to run the machines
and what to do, I volunteered to help. At least, I figured, I could
hide out there and not be so out of place. Well, the short story is
that Les and Arlene from that day on took myself and later my husband
under their wings, and never gave up on us. We were always the square
peg, but it didn't seem to matter with them.
Some where I heard or was told that this life is but a training ground
for more important work for us to do. I think this must be somewhat
right, because in one of the books St. Peter wrote, it says we will be
Kings, Priests, and Judges. When ARlene graduated to heaven, I believe
she was valedictorian of her class. God has more important work for her
now, and she is well prepared to do it. We will miss her presence
terribly, and be forever grateful for her visit last May.
Be seeing you soon, Arlene.

Arlene,
What can I say to remember such a precious sister in the Lord!! You
have been a shining light to so many people especially me. Your
precious smile was always there, no matter how much pain you may have
felt inside of you. You, through the years have given me so much hope
and love and courage to carry on during some very hard times. We also
celebrated during some very wondrous times as well.
I shall miss you so very much, but everytime I see the sun rise into
the sky, especially over a body of water, I will think of you, and
smile and remember us, and how wonderful our times together were.
Dear sister, enjoy your new found freedom and light. Dance and sing
with the Angels and rejoice. Take joy in His awesome presence.
Love
Mary

You are on my heart every day several times a day. I finally found the
newsletter underneath a pile of papers on the dining room table where
we had lunch together a couple of times. We have a new computer and new
service that is totally foreign to me, and I only hope this message
will get through to you both. I am in agreement with you that you are a
team with more to do for the glory of God and the great comfort of so
many people you minister to with God's great compassion . You have been
such an encouragement , comfort and joy to me. Your reward in heaven
will be greater than you could imagine. You are both beautiful examples
of the great love of Jesus Christ. Les, no matter what happens you will
still be ministering together throughout eternity. I really believe
this to be true. What a glorious day it will be when we graduate to
appear before our blessed Saviour in person and hear those words, "Well
done, faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord", Amen!

Greetings Arlene,
You are my sunshine lady. Whenever I feel down, I remember the day I
ran away from home and ended up on your doorstep. The moment I entered
your home I felt love and acceptance like never before. You took me in
and affirmed me and accepted me just as I was. I felt God's love so
very much while in your presence. You are such a giver of God's peace
and love. It flows from you. Thank you for allowing God to flow through
you. You touch so many lives.
Arlene, I will never forget the day I was leaving your home, you
reached up and took a plaque off your wall and gave it to me to bring
home. That touched me so much and still does today. You are a great
roll model for many of us. May God's presence be surrounding you today

Dear Tootsie,
I just finnished reading your fan mail and I can tell you that it was
no easy task. I'm trying to think of the right thing to say but my
words seem to stop. How do tell one of greatest chearleaders fo your
life what they have done for you? You were there from my first breath,
my first step, and my first prayer. You have taught me that little
birds can sing praises to God and that a colletion of pots and pans on
the kitchen floor can be a praise band. You never put me down and said
through God I could do anything. What a gift you are Grandma!
I was the first Grandchild of the flesh, but in spirit I am one of the
many who wake up in the morning and say, "How is Mrs. Carroll today?".
I am blessed to be you Grandaughter, your Sister in Christ and a

trying to say in the first place.(chuckle)

I haven't been in touch with you and Les for a while since I have been

do remember going on a few retreats with you all, also spending time at

many ways. Arlene, your sweetness and gift of mercy has truly touched
me. My most poingnant memory is when my sister Denise died. I knew of
no one else to ask to do her service than you and Les. Without not much
notice, you both made a very sad time for me a sweet memory, and the
Love of God came through in your words and song. Thank you. Arlene,
remember, God is holding you in his arms and will continue to do so. He
will lead you as a gentle shepherd through your trials, and you will

Happy belated birthday (I just heard about this page today). Like so
many others who have recorded their thoughts here, I think back to the

Dear Arlene,
I just found out it was your birthday when I read the New Life
Newsletter. Happy Belated Day! It is with such fondness and love that I
remember you and Les. It's been a number of years since I have been
able to go to the Mystic, CT retreat, but oh the healing God did
through your love and music and all the wonderful people who attended
those retreats! I still get warm thinking about His sweet presence
filling that motel. It was amazing how His grace slowly unraveled the
theme for each weekend. Your ministry through your songs always brought
a flood of tears and such deep healing. I was slowly made whole and a
new creation in Christ through all of you. I loved every cold January
day we were together! I will keep you and Les in my prayers. I know God
is faithful and ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! I love you both and hug you
from CT! xxoo Love, Linda

Happy Birthday, Arlene!
Today I write with sincere joy as I take time to remember and
appreciate you for your lifelong personal relationship with our Lord.
Through you as well as Les, our Lord was able to communicate His
unconditional love for me, thereby culminating in my acceptance of
Jesus as my Lord and Savior and thereafter my lifelong personal
relationship with Him. I want you to know and appreciate that I have
always considered you my earthly Mother of my Christian rebirth, with
whom our heavenly Father blessed me after calling my beloved biological
Mother to be with Him after her work on Earth was complete.
My walk as a born-again Christian is a continuing journey complete with
joys as well as persecution as I persevere and desire now to train up,
in the ways of our Lord, three blessed young sons with help from
Heather, my soulmate and clearly God's intended gift to me as a
Christian wife and helpmate. Please know that you, Arlene, made our
Lord's work possible through you as He knocked on the door to my Heart
and I invited him in those many years ago. Just as I welcomed Christ
into my life, you welcomed me into your life and made your home my home
during those years almost twenty years ago when I lived with your
growing family, including most directly Les, Bobby, Dawn & Richard, and
blessed grandchildren Susanna and Jimmy (both grown adults by now, I'm
sure!). Through the joys and struggles I shared with you as a part of
your Christ-centered Christian family, I learned much from your
Christian words and actions. Although such Christian words and actions
may have been considered by you as a regular way of living, to me they
clearly had been honed after years of prayer and experience following
your acceptance of Christ as a young girl. You touched my heart in
indescribable ways by such words and actions, and I think often of what
I learned from you as I was newly growing as a Christian.
Your marriage to Les continues to be one I attempt to emulate - I even
find that my marriage of "Kevin and Heather" seems stronger as a
Christian couple at the times when I am best able to emulate the
selfless and service-minded "Les" of "Les and Arlene". Although God
has made both of you one as soulmates and helpmates, I have always
appreciated your kindness, gentleness, guidance and wisdom as you
helped guide me toward and beyond my first steps on my walk with our
Lord. Your name remains a special part of my Christian testimony that
I have proudly and publicly given many times over these years. You are
a Christian sister who, with all that you have done and continue to do,
successfully and persistently spreads the Good News of our Lord Jesus
Christ. You are one to be emulated. I appreciate you and I love you,
Arlene.
Love,
Kevin Sembrat

Now that I have known you for several years, it's easy to forget that I

Arlene, to me you have been such a genuine, trustworthy, caring,
open, listening (really listening), patient (particularly during those
Theophostic sessions), encouraging, warm and gracious sister. I love
your voice and your music, too.
You have always been "at the ready" to meet with me help me when I
needed someone to understand and pray. You truly helped me to navigate
some difficult times, all the while encouraging me to seek God and His
Truth.
I really do appreciate you--you have left a beautifully indelible mark
on my heart and my life. Thank you!
In just a couple of hours, I will be able to SEE you on your
birthday, as I am going to join others there at your house to celebrate
YOU!!!

new life “gang”. Knowing that all of you are like family to Dave, made
me a little nervous at the time. It was sort of like meeting a second
set of parents! I remember very clearly, your warmth, acceptance, and
interest. This helped me to feel right at home very quickly, and I
still do, of course. This kindness is a gift that you have from the
Lord, and I’m grateful to be a recipient.
We wish that we could be there to see you and to celebrate you. We pray for you daily, and we love you.
Love Ella

You and Les have been like a second Father and Mother to me. I’ve known
you both most of my life! I’m one of many so blessed in so many ways by
your kindness and love. What I really like about you both is your
shared passion to love and serve Jesus. It really is what drives you
both. You two are one of those rare couples who share that passion
genuinely. You always have. It’s been a beautiful example of spiritual
oneness to me. I know this year has been hard. But this much I also
know – God has good for you ahead. The best is yet to come! We love you
very much. Thank you for being a conduit of God’s love in my life. God
bless you and Happy Birthday!
With much love, Dave.

Dearest Arlene,
I’m thinking about how today is the anniversary of the day you were
born in this world, and how much better the world is because you are
here. It got me thinking about that movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”. You
remember the story – what a huge difference George Bailey had
unknowingly made in the lives of so many people. Someday, I want God to
show me the “Arlene Carroll” version of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. That
version will beat out the George Bailey version by a long shot, because
your life has had an impact not only here on earth, but in heaven too.
Earthly and heavenly things have been touched, blessed, made better
because of the love for Jesus that permeates your life. You are a cup
that runneth over with his love, spilling out and blessing all of us
who have the privilege of knowing you. Honestly, most people drain
energy out of us. But you are a giver – one of the few, the special,
givers. His love flows out of you onto all you meet. I can think of no
higher compliment to say of someone. It’s so true of you.

Well! Another birthday! They just keep coming. We are praying that many
more will keep coming because God is GOOD all the time.We were so
blessed last summer, being with you, Les and your family as well as
many New Life familes. We remember vividly your always smiling face as
you praised God in the many sessions we had. Thank you for being a
friend and sister in the Lord for all these years. For the times we
spent while in the ministry with you while back east. We wish we could
be with you on your special day, but our thoughts and prayers are there
with your and your loved ones. May He bless you abundantly as you have
blessed us and so many over the years.WE love you. Anne & Dick

Arlene,
There are so many things we've shared. The thing that stands out in my
mind, however, is how hard you worked in Judy's groups. You were always
in the middle with your hands on your hips (in the position of
empowerment) saying those things you needed most to say. I was always
secretly glad that Judy would call on you and not turn her gaze onto me
(HA). But you were always for being better for the Lord and so you
worked the hardest. You will do anything for the Lord.
Take care and know that we love you,
Dee

I can see your beautiful smile that lights up your face and shines
through your eyes. I think of you, and I smile. Throughout your life
you have given comfort, love, and encouragement to others. You've always
been there to take care of everyone around you. Arlene, your body may
be weak right now, but your spirit can still soar with the eagles. It's
time for you to be taken care of, and I can only imagine how difficult
that must be for you, but please, know, that all around you, are so
many people who have been so blessed by you, and that when they think
of you, they smile. I love you Arlene, and will continue to pray. Love,

Arlene, my sister, fellow minstrel, friend,
On your birthday, remember you are His diving seal, gracefully
cavorting and swimming in the ocean of His love! (You sing a lot
prettier than a seal, though.)
I'm so thankful for you. You have been a place of refuge in the
storm...Jesus' arms when I needed a hug...His cheer from the sidelines
when my spirit was fainting...heaven's Sonshine on my face, warming it
into a smile...His sword of Truth to slice lie-cords off my mind....His
butterfly lighting delicately on my shoulder to let me know He was
there...
Like a true mother in Israel, you never gave up hope. Now it's your turn to receive hope, joy, glory, miracles.
Just as you have led us into His wonderful Presence with heavenly
songs, may you now hear Jesus singing over you, drawing you into His
celebration of the special day He presented you to Planet Earth. (I'll
be partying with you!)
Happy Birthday with much love,
Sherry

love and grace of our Dad in Heaven and it just spills out all over. I
am so glad that I had and continue to have the opportnity to feel and

I also have appreciated the way you get people singing, moving and
praising the Lord during our times of praise and worship. This is a
wonderful gift you have.
And I musn't forget to tell you that you have a wonderful warm smile. And never forget: "Wipe that look off your face!"

Dear Arlene:
Pauline and I want to wish you a Happy Birthday. You and Les and
Pauline and I go way back together. This includes hard times and easy
times and also growing times. Our journeys ahve paralleled each other
in age and ministry. You and Les have always been our greatest
supportors. Our memories go back to the time when you had to step in
for Les and take charge. We also have precious memories when we served
the Lord together in Hopedale. Who can forget your ministry and service
to Trinity Ministries when you and Les came on our Board of Directors
and helped to launch us into our International Ministry. We know that
you want to live and serve the Lord. Pauline and I believe that you
have touched our lives in such a way that as we minister to pastors and
their families it has become an extension of your ministry. Pauline
hurt her knee and we are not going to able to be there on your birthday
but we will be there in Spirit.

I still have a vivid memory of when I first met you. I was a new

from those around me. You and Les had opened up your house for an
impromptu prayer meeting and I was invited by a friend to check it out.
I will never forget the love I felt when I entered your home and
instantly felt accepted by someone who had never met me before.
I hope you have a wonderful day!!!!

I remember one day at a retreat, I walked into the large room with a

satisfying time.
I also treasure your warmth and your smile and your hospitality. Your

I appreciate you Arlene because you appreciated me! Because you
recognized the Spirit in me, I was able to accept that God lives inside
of me and that He blesses people through me. Your affirmation of me
made it easier to be God for others. Your recognition of His life
within me, giving life to you enabled me to say I am ok; God is in me,
and damn, I'm good! Appreciating you appreciating me has allowed me to
appreciate YOU and Him in you as well as many, many others. I can be me

Arlene,
When I think back....I remember clearly the trip we made to The Spirit
of '81...I think it was in NH. Your family and others including my
family, the Whisman's, attended. We camped out in the stadium field
close to each other. We had wonderful times of singing and fellowship
together as families. This time was very significant in my spiritual
journey and growth. Your friendship and ministry relationship with my
father and mother was priceless to them and so encouraging to their
faith in the Lord.
Now as a pastor in an Asian American church in New Jersey, I say with
confidence that you and Les both played a significant part in my
Christian experience as a young man. I remember a conversation with Les
in the sub sandwich place next to the Tape Store in Westford. He
pointed out the difference between the living Word of God and the
written word of God. I never forgot that coversation. Your work for the
kingdom has rippled out further than you can imagine. At this point in
your journey, be at peace and know that God has worked through you and
isn't finished with you yet. The new heaven and earth hold much more
for you to do. God blessings.
Yours in Christ,

without you and Les to help ease the transition I don't think I could
have made it. And to Les with his setting up of the movers and taking
the time to build something so my marble tops would travel safely. Then
especially your meeting at your home where we danced for joy in the

 There
was actually a butterfly on my finger in this picture. I didn't read
the others yet, cause I didn't want to be prejudiced either to say the
same things or not the same things. When I think of the impact that you
and Les have had on our lives so far, it's not so much the one shot,
big event type of thing. No, for me your ministry has not so much been
like Ed McMahan showing up at the door with a big check, but more like
having someone there all the time that is ready with a warm blanket or
a hug. "Old friends, like a rare piece of gold--just old friends." But
not that old anyway! Not old enough to my way of thinking. I take
strength and encouragement from the improvements to many of your health
signs and so I say, "Thank you Lord. More, please." I had always
thought of the blind guy that saw trees at first in regard to
progressive healing, but today I noticed that Ezekial had to prophecy
to the dry bones more than once to get the full effect. Lord, I ask
that you would release a full and complete healing for Arlene, in Jesus
name. And a happy birthday too--and many more!
Pam returns from India Sunday so it will be a good day all around.
After a very long flight, I doubt that we will stop by, but perhaps
again soon.
